REV. DR. JAMES L. BUMPUS
Pastor & Founder
Dr. James Louis Bumpus is a fourth-generation Baptist preacher and a dedicated servant in Christian ministry for over 37 years. He is the Senior Pastor of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, where he previously served as Associate Pastor and Director of Christian Education. His pastoral journey includes leadership at Tremont Temple Baptist Church and other congregations across Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Bumpus holds a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from the University of Memphis, a Master of Divinity from Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center, and a Doctor of Ministry from Mercer University—where he was the first African American male to graduate with this degree from McAfee School of Theology. He also earned an Executive MBA from Wesleyan College.
Beyond ministry, Dr. Bumpus is an educator, author, and community leader. He has taught at American Baptist College, Fort Valley State University, and Mercer University. His leadership extends to economic development, having served as the first Director of Small Business Affairs for Macon-Bibb County and the Director of Economic Development for Hampton, Georgia. He is also a consultant with The Bumpi Group, LLC.
A talented musician, Dr. Bumpus has performed internationally, and he remains actively engaged in community service, policy advising, and economic empowerment initiatives. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and various civic organizations.
Dr. Bumpus is married to Renee Hope Bumpus, and they have four children and four grandchildren. Passionate about spreading the gospel, he is committed to making Greater Peace a place of spiritual wholeness, health, and hospitality.

LADY RENEE' H. BUMPUS
First Lady
Renee’ H. Bumpus is a dynamic leader, entrepreneur, and community advocate with a distinguished career spanning over three decades in the tourism and hospitality industry. A graduate of Morristown College with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, she has held executive roles, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Regional General Manager for IHG and Hyatt full-service hotel properties, primarily serving the Atlanta market.
Driven by a passion for business development and community empowerment, Renee’ founded The Bumpi Group, LLC, a consulting firm based in Macon, GA. Through this firm, she provides strategic guidance to corporate organizations, government agencies, small businesses, and nonprofits. She is a strong advocate for education, workforce development, and faith-based initiatives. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of Power Sources Unlimited, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to providing after-school programs and summer enrichment for children in the Bright from the Start Head Start Program.

She currently serves on the GABEO GA Association of Black Elected Officials Advisory Board and has also played an integral role in supporting faith-based initiatives as the GMBC Ministers’ Wives Facilitator and Instructor.
In addition to her extensive leadership experience, Renee’ has contributed to the arts and music community as the former Choir Director for The Otis Redding Dream Choir. She is also a proud member of Leadership Georgia’s Class of 2012.
Renee’ is married to Rev. Dr. James Louis Bumpus, the first African American graduate of Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology in 2009. With nearly 38 years in ministry, he serves as Pastor of Greater Peace Baptist Church.
Above all, Renee’ takes pride in her role as a loving mother to Charles, Porscha, Mariah, and Jay, and a devoted GoGo (grandmother) to Conner, Drew, Lennox, Denver & Kayce. Guided by her commitment to family and community, her philosophy is centered on fostering economic opportunities and promoting equity for all.
